FTP Connection Tester
Verify FTP server reachability, test credentials, and diagnose connection issues instantly — no software needed.
Need encrypted FTP?
This tool tests plain FTP. If your server uses TLS encryption, use the FTPS Connection Tester instead.
What is an FTP Connection Tester?
An FTP connection tester lets you verify that a remote FTP server is online and accepting connections on the correct port. By entering a hostname, port, username, and password you can quickly confirm whether your credentials are valid, whether the server is reachable from outside your network, and whether any firewall or NAT rules are blocking the connection.
Common FTP connection issues
- Connection refused — the server is not listening on the specified port, or a firewall is blocking it.
- Authentication failed — incorrect username or password, or the account is locked.
- Timeout — the host is unreachable or the port is silently filtered by a firewall.
- Passive mode issues — the data port range is not open on the server-side firewall.
