FTPie Release Notes
Version 2026.8.1
New: Activity page
- •One place that shows everything the app did - backups, scheduled transfers and folder notifications together, newest first, with filters for the job, the severity and the time range
- •Your history is no longer lost when you close FTPie. The per-job log used to live only in memory, so a backup that ran overnight had nothing to show the next morning - it is now saved
- •When a job fails, you get the whole story. Clicking the warning on a backup opens the log narrowed to that exact run - everything it did leading up to the failure, with the full error a click away
- •Fewer interruptions. Only genuine failures raise a notification now; successful runs are recorded quietly on the Activity page instead of popping up
- •The log is kept in its own database, separate from your accounts and settings, and is trimmed automatically (30 days)
New: Backup & transfer health at a glance
- •Every backup now shows its health next to its name. A coloured dot tells you whether it is working: green when the last run succeeded, amber when something went wrong recently, red when the last run failed, grey when it is paused, and an empty ring when it has never run
- •Hover a job to see its recent history - a small bar next to "Last run", one mark per run, so you can tell "this has been solid for a week" from "this fails every other night" without opening anything
- •Hover any mark for that run's details - when it ran, how it ended, how much it moved and how long it took, plus the error if it failed. Click it to open the activity log for that exact run
- •Backup history is no longer thrown away by your retention setting. Cleaning up old snapshots used to erase the record that those runs ever happened - and because it only ever cleaned up successful runs, the failures piled up and the history you were left with looked far worse than reality. Old snapshots are still reclaimed exactly as before; the record of the run now stays
- •Both indicators are on the Backup and Scheduled Transfers pages
Screenshot
- •Screenshots are now copied to the clipboard automatically - can be turned off in Settings
- •New optional instant hotkeys for region, window and full screen that capture straight away, without opening the screenshot window first - this is what finally makes it possible to capture menus and popups, which used to close the moment the tool appeared
- •New "After capture" choice: open the editor tab (default), just save the file, or share it
- •Optional delay (3, 5 or 10 seconds) before capturing, for menus you have to hold open with the mouse
- •Screenshot filenames are now sorted correctly by date (they were year-day-month)
- •See the Screenshot feature page for the full picture
Screen recording
- •New stop and pause hotkeys, so you can end a recording without bringing the recorder window back on screen - and into the recording
- •New optional hotkeys to start a recording in a given mode, plus a 3-2-1 countdown to get to the right window first
- •A recording started by hotkey now hides the recorder window, which used to sit in the middle of the recorded region
- •Only one recorder can run at a time - starting another no longer begins a second recording
- •Optionally copy the file or share it as soon as a recording finishes, and a new Discard button for takes you don't want
- •Fixed: region recording on scaled displays (for example 120%) captured the wrong area - both the selection border and the recorded video were offset and about 17% too small
- •A hotkey already claimed by another application is now flagged as you type it, instead of silently doing nothing
- •Both capture tools' text is now translatable - see the Screen Recording feature page
Signing, download size & installer
- •Every file in FTPie is now digitally signed. Previously only the main executables carried our signature; the application's libraries did not. This should noticeably reduce antivirus and SmartScreen false positives, including the "file blocked on first launch" problem
- •Smaller download and install - about 22 MB less, by removing duplicated components and debug symbol files that were shipping by mistake
- •Faster installer. Installing over an existing copy no longer pauses for a minute before starting
- •Note for the update flow: updates now download the complete package rather than a small patch
Fixes
- •Backup run statuses now read the same everywhere - the history dialog, the new history bar and the activity log no longer disagree, and they are translated
- •Updated the scheduling engine behind backups and scheduled transfers
Thank you for using FTPie!
